Until version 7.6.0.4 NBU generate a message that i want to backup two virtual machines with identical displaynames. The duplicated VM's would be excluded from the backup policy and the remaining VM's would be backuped. Since version 7.7.2 the handling has changed. If NBU detect two VM's with the same displayname - the policy would be abort with error 69 (Invalid filelist specification) -> no backup would be done. The manual describe a path to backup two VM's with a static client selection.
My environment has about 1500 VM's. The VM's are very dynamically, so some users forget to check if the displayname already exists. I need a automatic to detect duplicated displaynames at the beginning of a policy job. The duplicated VM's has to excluded for the policy run (other VM's in the policy would be backup) and generate a seperate message. The handling could be an option in the host properties.
