I inherited a system under my new position and am searching for a SAN to do backups through iSCSI. We currently have an Equallogic PS600 with 12TB and another older drive array with 2.45TB that I started using about 2 months ago to get away from tape. I am looking to get a device with 10gb connection and at least 30TB of storage. The budget is around 10K.
We backup a lot of data. A full backup of the files we would need would be about 4.5 TB. What I would like the device to do is to hold several full backups as well as store some hyper-v replicas. The 12TB SAN would then be used for incrementals and the disk array could be re-decommissioned.
I want to get deduplication setup in the future and then store the deduplicated backup data on Amazon or similar cloud storage (is that the best way).
