NetBackup 7.7.1 Sharepoint SQL access

Installed latest greatest

Enviroment:
* Windows 2012r2 on allhost/servers
* Netbackup server/client 7.7.1
* Done by the book.. https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.HOWT... but might be a issue regarding SA on SQL.

Question:
The DBA doesnt want to give away the SA account for the SQL-Server, is there another way to do this on? Or what is the techincal requirement for the SA on, why do it need so much rights?
