Has anyone had any experience with adding/defining a Disk Storage Server (Open Storage) hosted on IBM SoftLayer? Is there a Open Storage plug-in available that will work with SoftLayer Object Storage?

Omit a drive letter along with ALL_LOCAL DRIVES
I do not need a solution (just sharing information)
When I run BMR restores I see Netbackup submits some restores saying to restore \C\ but also saying !\X\BMR\. Is this a NOT operator?
What I'd like to do is have the backup directives for a standard windows server be ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES but I want to omit the S: drive.
I have tried !S:\ but this fails.
Does Netbackup have a way to omit a drive letter for a server? I cant put in in the exclude list because I am going to setup a separate policy to backup the S: drive.

I upgraded from 2013 (activated) to 2013R2, and now SSR fails to run. Upon bootup, the splash screen flashes briefly, and nothing happens. Same thing if I run it from the shortcut. The event viewer has an error:

We have taken vmware backup using replication director from Primary filer to backup filer. Now we want to duplicate backup on tape as well. Can we used SLP to copy backup over tape or we have to use NDMP to copy backup on tapes?

Restore entire VM from DD2200
I need a solution
Hi to all,
we have an environment that contains one DELL PowerEdge R310 Server (Backup Server) with Backup Exec 2012 Sp4 installed.
The virtual environment is on VMware vSphere 5.5.
The backups are saved on DataDomain DD2200 and on backup server OpenStorage Plugin 3.0.2 is installed for backing up via OST.
Throughput in backup phase is fine, about 5-6GB/min, but in restore phase (entire VM), the DataDomain restore data about 280MB/min in a local disk on backup server. The Duplicate Job from DD to TAPE is around 3GB/min.
We followed the articole "Tuning Windows Media Server for Performance" (KB000180974) on EMC site.
How can we improve restore perfomance? 4-6MB/s are poor.....

AWS VTL Tape drive issue

Hello techies,
Need to help to fix the below issue.
Environment:
NetBackup appliance 5230 : 7.6.0.3
Media server: Windows 2008 Enterprise server (VM server)
In my set-up i have 10 AWS glacier VTL tape drives connected to my Media server. A Gateway server is lying in the middle of Media server and AWS.
My problem is most of the time the tape drives are not getting detected from OS end. while checking the eventlog i can the error "Operator/EMM server has Down'ed drive".
When i re-start the media server the drives are getting detected. I suspected the issue on server load and increased CPU & RAM..Still issue persists.
Please advise me on it.

Netbackup is generating 24000 event ids in windows event viewer

NBU7.5.0.7 on win2008R2 master
I have a problem related to NBUmaster server application event log generation. It seems it is generating around 20000 plus logs on daily basis. Below is a sample.
Error 12/15/2015 10:48:27 AM NetBackup Database Manager 0 None 16 4 9657 9340 xxxxx xxxxr ndmpagent xxxx_er: Active NDMP backup/restore streams reach the configured concurrent streams 4, but less than the maximum supported concurrent streams 8. No more backup/restore sessions can be started. Wait current backup/restore sessions finish, then increase concurrentDataStreams parameter.
Can any one suggest what does it needs to be done to reduce the number of event log generation because I have another site where I do have plenty of jobs running on a daily basis which does not generate these many application event logs.

Catalog Import
I need a solution
I have taken backup using openstorage into my storage device.
But storage device IP is being modified from 10.11.5.181 to 10.11.5.182(Still i want use the same store from storage server) after first full backup.
Say,
10.11.5.181 : STU1
10.11.5.182 : STU2
Now NBU has the catalog entries, is there any way to import these?
Is this a valid scenario, can i import backup images if i change the IP address?
Note : STU is created using IP not host name
if i run stage-1 import on this catalog entry choosing target as STU2, import is success full, but when i search for import entries for stage-2, i could not able to find the same, Error : INF Found no image matching selection criteria. ...

Hitachi Content Platform (HCP) NDMP backup ?

Hello
Have somebody tested if it is possible to run NDMP backup of HCP with Netbackup ?
Have checked the HCL for 7.7 and HCP does not appear in it. But that does not necessarily means it does not work.
Know that HCP backup is normally replicating to another HCP but we have a case with only ne HCP system

Windows Open File Backup and VSS question

Hi guys,
It's the first time I have to work with this product and I'm trying to optimise the backups so they don't require so long.
My question is: Can I somehow successfully backup open files in windows file servers, without having to backup the "Shadow Copy Components:\" in the backup selections for a backup policy?
I've been googling around and I saw that you can go to the NBU console>Host Properties>Master server properties>Client attributes, add the relevant client and enable Windows Open File Backup. With that enabled, would the policy back up open files on the server if it was configured to back up all the drives and system state, but not the "Shadow Copy Components:\"?

Read Only files Are showing when I try to do a restore
I need a solution
Greetings, I have a Hyper-V Win 2008 client that did not have the agent installed (Admins did not want to give us access to the machine)on. We received a request for a file level restore on the virtual server and I installed the agent. I edited the host file, as normal, to point to the master server. Said master server also acts as the media server. I checked the host file on the master/media server to add the make sure that the node the client is on was listed.I can ping the node from the master/media server. I can ping the master/media server from the hyper-v client. When I click on the client name in Symantec Netbackup Admin Console it connects. When I attempt the restore I am able to see our records for our full retention period.
When I browse to the requested files using Backup, Archive and Restore they have the "read only" (red circle with line through it). Any idea what I can do to have full access to the files in order to do a restore?

Restoring SQL Server databases from VMDK backups
I need a solution
If I am doing VMware VMDK backups of a database server, I should be able to "recover" a database by pulling the .mdf and .ldf files out of a VMDK backup, right? This would not require the use of the SQL Server "database extension". I realize that this is in no way a solution for backing up SQL Server databases and the database extension is required for point-in-time recovery, but am just curious if the VMDK backup is providing an 'extra' backup albeit at the file level.

ich möchte aus einem Backup eine vmdk wiederherstellen, das ganze schlägt aber fehl mit der Meldung:
Endgültiger Fehler: 0xe0009b61 - Backup Exec konnte sich mit dem angegebenen Login-Konto nicht am Server einloggen. Das Login-Konto verfügt nicht über gültige Referenzen. Stellen Sie sicher, dass der Benutzername und das Kennwort im Login-Konto richtig angegeben sind. Endgültige Fehlerkategorie: Sicherheitsfehler
Ich habe festgestellt das die Anmeldedaten für den vCenter Server zwar stimmen, aber bei der Virtuellen Maschine kommt beim testen mit diesen Zugangsdaten ein Fehler (siehe Anhang). Es handelt sich bei der Maschine um ein Ubuntu 14.04 Server. Auch mit den mir bekannten Userdaten von Ubuntu (root und ein weiterer Adminuser) kommt beim testen ein Fehler und ich kann die vmdk nicht wiederherstellen.
Welche "Zugangsdaten" brauche ich an dieser Stelle?

Wie sichere ich Daten von einem QNAP NAS System?

Folgendes soll gemacht werden:
Mit Backup Exec Version 2015, also der aktuellsten Version (inkl. Feature Pack2!) soll eine
Netzwerkfreigabe gesichert werden. Und zwar auf eine angeschlossene HP Tape Library an einem
Windows Server 2008R2. Sonstigt Backup's auf / von dem System laufen fehlerfrei!!
Diese Netzwerkfreigabe liegt auf einem QNAP NAS.
Es ist eine "normale" Netzwerkfreigabe - KEIN iSCSI!
Also ich will NICHT auf eine Freigabe sichern! Sondern von der Freigabe die Daten auf LTO sichern!
Ich habe nun in der Serverübersicht einen neuen Server hinzugefügt.
Auswahl: Dateiserver oder NDMP-Datenserver (in dieser Auswahl steht explizit: Es wurde kein
Backup Exec Agent installiert)
Ein entsprechendes Benutzerkonto wurde angebeben, und der Server wird auch in der Auswahl
angezeigt - mit allen Freigaben welche auf dem QNAP liegen.
Als nächstes habe ich einen Backup Job erstellt und ein paar Dateien zum testen ausgewählt.
War alles möglich - der Job startet dann auch normal.
Nach kurzer Zeit wird der Job mit einem Fehler beendet - siehe:

dass der Server online und die richtige Version von Agent for Windows auf dem Zielcomputer installiert ist.
